My ‘most favorite’ page

I always look forward to my issue coming every month. I always read from cover to cover, but I think my most favorite page is Snapshot, with the photos of the children!

The heart of the matter

Paul Wood’s article “Ask Grandma, not Uncle Sam” [see November 2008, page 5] brought tears to my eyes. In fact, I have saved many of Mr. Wood’s articles because he gets right to the heart of the subject. No matter what’s happening in our government, we rural folks are the real America. We know the value of life, family and home. And we love our country because we are the ones who work to make it what it is.

Thanks for your wonderful magazine. I look forward to it every month.

—Barbara Glisson, Statesboro

Kudos on food coverage

Thank you so much for the beautiful article written by Jane Garvey about Fresh ’N Fit Cuisine in GEORGIA Magazine [see “At your service,” November 2008, page 38]. We were so thrilled to receive the issue. We appreciate the opportunity to work with you.

Something to think about

I really enjoy GEORGIA Magazine each month. Paul Wood always gives us something to think about. And one can learn about Georgia history and events. It’s a great teaching aid in the classroom and with one’sown children and grandchildren. Thank you!

Honoring Dr. O’Neal

Twenty four years ago my wife, Jane, met Dr. J. Patrick O’Neal [see “The man with the plan,” January 2009, page 24]. Thank God she did! While visiting the Emory Hospital Dental School she was the victim of a near-fatal reaction to penicillin. She fell to the floor and lost all vital signs. She was attended by an emergency team and sent to Dekalb General Hospital where Dr. O’Neal worked his medical miracles. He was concerned, dedicated, prompt, competent and successful. Hours later, much recovered but still weak, my wife was permitted to return home. Today she enjoys health commensurate to her senior years.

We thank Dr. O’Neal and appreciate that he was then—and still is—the right man for the right job at the right time. Emergency care throughout Georgia will benefit from his leadership. Thank you for honoring this remarkable man.

—Russel R. Weiskircher, Cleveland
