HEWETT Looking for fun on the Etowah River this month? Then head to the 9th Annual Duck Derby festivities, May 14-15, in Cartersville. The event begins with a free concert by Maggie Smith and Real Time Stereo on Friday evening, along with a cornhole tournament, car show, games and inflatables for the kids. Saturday begins with the Duck Dash 5K and kids’ fun run, plus the duck derby itself, where visitors can adopt the more than 20,000 rubber ducks before they take to the river, with a chance to win cash, prizes or a Kia Soul. All-day activities include arts and crafts, a kids’ corner, music, games, food and live entertainment. Proceeds from the derby help provide safety, comfort and hope to local children through Cartersville-based Advocates For Children.
