• Keep things irrigated as needed.

• Cut back herbs before they begin to flower and go to seed. Dry leaves from cuttings to use in cooking or give away as gifts.

• Trim limbs of hydrangea bushes after blossoms begin to fade (except for long-blooming varieties such as ‘Endless Summer’).

• Plant seeds of quick-growing annuals, such as zinnias, cosmos or cleome for a fall show.
