Georgia Cooks

Going back for seconds

Despite its name, Nancy’s Lemon Cheese Cake contains no cheese, but its lemon curd filling and fluffy icing make a pretty presentation. (Food styling by Terri Evans/Photography by Parker C. Smith)

Family reunions provide great times for laughing, reminiscing, perhaps a few tears—and catching up on what’s happened since the last get-together. Whether it’s a covered-dish spread, an informal picnic or a simple Sunday dinner around grandma’s kitchen table, being with family makes the experience memorable.

But some folks say it wouldn’t be a family reunion without the mouthwatering dishes. And oh, what food! Whether it’s bellying up to the picnic table next to the bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken, scooping up Mom’s Old Fashioned Potato Salad or anticipating a slice of Cousin Nancy’s Lemon Cheese Cake at the end of the meal, sharing good food with family is special.

Here, our readers share some of their favorite memory-making family-reunion recipes.
