22nd Annual Blind Willie McTell Blues Festival, Thomson, GA. www.blindwillie.com.
Thomson welcomes blues legends

BY RODERIC GRAHAM

The highly anticipated, 22nd Annual Blind Willie McTell Blues Festival will take place May 9 at 965 Stage Coach Road, about 4 miles north of Thomson.

Grab a lawn chair and listen to blues legends Marcia Ball, John Hammond, Mingo Fish Trap and a host of other talented musicians perform their hits. The Activities Council of Thomson founded this festival in honor of Statesboro Blues legend Blind Willie McTell and to raise money for art education programs for schools and universities. Local restaurants and food trucks will offer a variety of snacks and meals, and the local arts council will sell art and blues-related merchandise.

For tickets or information, visit blindwillie.com or call (706) 597-1000.
