Event Description

Join the Lustgarten Foundation for the 5th annual 5K Run/Walk for Research to inspire the pancreatic cancer community & provide renewed hope. Pancreatic cancer has a 5-year survival rate of just 11% -- the lowest of any major cancer. This year more than 62,000 people in the U.S., nearly 170 per day, will receive this devastating diagnosis. The Atlanta Run/Walk provides survivors, patients & families a voice & a place to create hope, together. 100% of donations fund pancreatic cancer research. This is a timed USATF Qualifying Run; casual walkers welcome. Stefanie Wayco started this walk in honor of her mother, Rita Wayco, & has raised nearly $400,000 to date for research. Tony Brown, NBA Referee #6, a pancreatic cancer stage 4 patient, Atlanta resident & father of three, will share his message of hope & the power of research. Registration opens: 8:30 a.m.; Timed run/walk begins at 9 a.m.
