Beginners' Contra Dance

You are invited to a free beginners' contra dance, 7 to 9:30 pm on Thursday, April 4!

Contra dance is a form of social dance where a caller teaches a dance to participants and then guides them throughout by giving instructions. New dancers are always welcome and no experience or ability is required.

The evening will start with an introductory lesson, during which the caller will teach you all of the basic steps. Then students in the UNG Old-Time String Band will provide live music for an evening of dancing at a moderate pace. During the break, the Old-Time String Band will perform a short program of traditional songs.
