Event Description

We’ll learn how spring is a seasonal tug-of-war. Glenn Burns, Chief Meteorologist Emeritus WSB-TV, will explain how cold, dense air escaping the polar vortex (a large area of low pressure and cold air surrounding Earth’s poles) crashes into warm, moist air moving up from the Gulf of Mexico. The result? A collision which becomes the “engine” for mid-latitude cyclones and severe thunderstorms.

Stick around after the talk to explore a weather station, capture a cloud in a bottle, and create your own cloud viewer!
