Sinfonietta will give its final concert of the year on Thursday, April 18 at 7:30 p.m. in Shott Auditorium.
The concert will be a celebration of the orchestra’s many graduating seniors. They will perform a wide range of selections representing different eras and styles. The centerpiece of the concert will be J.S. Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 3, a virtuosic piece for nine solo string players. Sinfonietta will also play “Deep Sea,” composed by double bass major Zane Cook as part of his senior project. “Deep Sea” was inspired by a piece of art that will be displayed during the performance.
Other selections will include Béla Bartók’s “Evening in the Village,” Jay Ungar’s “Ashokan Farewell,” and a medley of traditional tunes featured in the movie Titanic. The concert will close with a medley of themes from classic Westerns, “Blazing Bows of the West!”
Admission is free.
