On Wednesday, Jan. 31, at 7:30 p.m., soprano Maria Clark will perform “Songs of Love and Justice” in concert recital at University of North Georgia Dahlonega Campus.
Clark has performed on the stage of Carnegie Hall as First Prize Winner of the Barry Alexander International Vocal Competition. “One seldom finds a voice capable of such beauty across a variety of idioms,” said Cosmo Buono, executive director. “A voice this much at home in opera, lieder, and spirituals is very rare. She is truly, both artistically and vocally, a triumph.”
Maria has also been a prize winner and finalist in several operatic competitions and is a first prize Oxnard Gold winner of the American Traditions Competition held in conjunction with the Savannah Music Festival.
Maria has sung with opera companies and symphony orchestras around the world, and her recent CD release of African American Spirituals, entitled, “Soul Sanctuary.” hit number 27 on the Amazon billboard for new classical music.
The concert is free and open to the public. For additional information on this and other upcoming events, please visit us at https://ung.edu/music/music-events.php or music@ung.edu.
