Join Zoo Atlanta for a morning of learning and discovery designed specifically for homeschool students!
HomeSchool Academy is a two-hour program that allows students to explore animal and science concepts in an engaging, interactive environment. Programs are grade-appropriate and include hands-on, minds-on activities and Zoo tours that hone students’ STEM skillsets in a collaborative environment. Each semester, students will gain a deeper understanding of animals’ unique adaptations and will leave with an increased connection to wildlife and a greater desire to take conservation action.

Adventure Cubs presented by Carter’s Charitable Foundation is for toddlers and their favorite grownups for a morning of exploration, learning and fun!
Embark on a new journey each month with a Zoo Educator as families get to learn and play together.
Engaging activities will get you and your little one moving and creating. Each month, young explorers will learn about a new animal through a game, craft, story, and singalong. At the end of the program, participants will visit the animal of the month’s habitat to make observations and draw connections to the lesson. You and your family will then receive a themed scavenger hunt to do in the Zoo on your own. This is a great opportunity to make friends and spend time with your little explorers as they discover new skills and learn about wildlife.
All topics and activities are designed for children ages 2-5, with opportunities for exploration for ages 0-2. During the winter months, this program will be held indoors.

Each month, a new adventure awaits with new animals to observe. Adventure Cubs will explore a new region of the world to investigate the animals and environments there! The purpose of each program is to expose young children to the diversity of animals around the world and to draw connections to the ways we are similar and different. For each adventure they go on, Adventure Cubs will engage in an activity, read a story, and create a take-away memory.

June 27: Radical Reptiles – Explore the scaly and often slithery world of reptiles! Discover the amazing senses and defenses of animals such as snakes, lizards, and turtles. Young explorers will learn how humans can help our not-so-furry friends and develop respect and appreciation for reptiles.
July 25: Small But Mighty – Join us for a special night where the tables are turned – instead of young explorers seeing animals in their habitats, animals are coming to see us in our Conservation Action Resource Center (ARC)! Meet our smallest Ambassador Animals with the biggest personalities and learn what makes them special as individuals and as species. Explore the human-animal connection through activities designed to engage young explorers in thinking about how humans can show care for the small animals that share our planet.
August 8: Curious Cats – Embark on a wild adventure to the world of lions, tigers, and leopards! Young explorers will engage in activities to learn about the fantastic feline adaptations that help these animals hunt, hide, and survive. Join us in discovering the superpowers of cats!
August 22: Savanna Giants – Giants are among us! Join us as we explore the world of the positively enormous animals that roam the African Savanna, including rhinos, elephants, giraffes, and ostriches! What adaptations set these animals apart? Join us as we answer this question and learn more about the role humans have in protecting our gigantic animal friends!
September 5: Bird Brains – Soar into the fascinating lives of birds, from tweeting songbirds to majestic raptors and colorful flamingos! Young explorers will gain empathy for feathered friends while discovering how beaks, feet, and feathers help birds adapt to every challenge. How could a simple change in a bird’s beak make all the difference for survival? Join us as we find out!
October 24: Mystifying Mammals – Come discover the world of wonderfully unique and bizarre mammals, including binturongs, maras, and naked mole rats. Join our Zoo Educators as we explore the remarkable anatomical and behavioral adaptations that allow these animals to thrive in their environments. Can your young explorer unlock the science behind the mysteries of these lesser-known mammals?
