Explore these and other questions in this new interactive exhibit in the Discovery Garden!
It may be common to measure using standard tools such as measuring tapes and cups, but Measurement Rules explores non-standard tools such as balancing scales, odometers, calipers, 3-D imaging and counting “Mississippis.” Explore this exhibit and become confident in the language of measurement through length, weight, volume and time.
The museum is closed Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.

We’ve all imagined what it’s like to live and work in space, but only a select few have done it. Opening on Oct. 10, those who have lived in space will share their experiences with visitors in our newest traveling exhibition, Journey to Space.
Using hands-on and large-scale interactive exhibits and multimedia components, Journey to Space gives visitors a glimpse at the extraordinary conditions of human space travel, as well as the unique challenges and rewards of life on board the International Space Station.

The Helen Chamber of Commerce is proud to present the 37th Annual Helen Trout Tournament on Saturday, March 28.
Fish the famous Chattahoochee River in Helen for your chance to catch tagged fish worth up to $1,000! (Subject to change). The Helen Chamber of Commerce will stock the Chattahoochee River with more than 400 pounds of trophy trout! In addition, Georgia DNR will be stocking the river with trout during the tournament as well.

Quilts Japan: The 17th Quilt Nihon features stunning traditional and modern quilts from the biennial competition.
SQTM is honored to be one of only four venues in the United States where the works will be on view.

The Fire Ant Committee is excited to announce the 2026 Fire Ant Festival theme: Fire Ant Freedom.
In honor of 250 years of American Independence (1776–2026), we’re celebrating with a red, white, and blue festival weekend in Ashburn. Get ready for laughs, lively events and plenty of patriotic ANT-ics as we salute this historic milestone.
When the weekend kicks off, lace up for the 5K Liberty Dash or the Stars & Stripes 1-Mile Fun Run. Stroll through local arts and crafts vendors, enjoy classic festival food, a carnival of rides, take in live music, join in games for all ages and end the night with fireworks over the Ashburn sky.

The 1823 Artisan Guild will be holding a first quarter art show in 2026 titled Reimagining the Masters, and they are currently taking entries!
The goal is recreating or reimagining masterpieces, capturing the mood but not duplicating the exact composition. This keeps it legal, original and creative! The show will open on Feb. 28, 2026, with the entry window closing on February 27, 2026.
The 1823 Artisan Guild is open Thursdays and Fridays from 11 a.m.-4 p.m., and Saturdays from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

The Monroe County Achievement Center is hosting its 9th Annual Fit to Achieve 5K on March 28.
As part of their service-learning project for students, they are promoting a healthy lifestyle by encouraging everyone to exercise and make healthy food choices. The race is a 5K course beginning and ending at the Monroe County Achievement Center. All proceeds will be used to enhance the educational experience of the students at the Monroe County Achievement Center.

The Ringgold Playhouse presents “Wait Until Dark,” a thriller by Frederick Knott, directed by Renee Lierow.
Friday and Saturday shows run from 7:30-10 p.m., and Sunday shows run from 2-4:30 p.m.

Synopsis:
Frederick Knott’s thriller is the story of Susy Hendrix, a recently blinded housewife who unwittingly possesses a doll filled with illicit drugs. Harry Roat, a brutal and sophisticated criminal, coerces two small-time thugs into helping him con Susy into giving up the doll. A battle of wits ensues as Susy and the young girl upstairs launch a counterplot against the thieves. The drama plays on the themes of darkness and light as Susy navigates through her sightless world, and the crooks signal each other with light through the Venetian blinds.

- Georgia's CoastSporting Event
The Club Car Championship at The Landings Golf & Athletic Club is an official PGA TOUR-sanctioned event contested annually on the Deer Creek Course at The Landings Golf & Athletic Club.
The tournament is a part of the Korn Ferry Tour Schedule and is a four-day, 72-hole, stroke-play competition with a total purse of $1,000,000 in 2026.
All four rounds of the Club Car Championship are broadcast on Golf Channel and the tournament is one of only six regular-season events on the Korn Ferry Tour to air on network television.

Join us for an exciting triathlon held entirely on the scenic grounds of Fort Gordon!
Participants will take on a 300-meter pool swim, a 10-mile bike ride, and a 5K run—all within the secure, low-traffic environment of the installation. Your participation helps support our military community.
Race begins at 9 a.m.
Military and student registrants must present a valid ID at packet pickup.

- Georgia's CoastArt Exhibit
Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum—an acclaimed museum dedicated to celebrating and preserving America’s maritime legacy—is delighted to present “Beyond the Plate: Sea and Sky,” an exciting new solo exhibition featuring nautical-inspired, mixed-media art by Rob Strati, from September 25, 2025, through April 12, 2026.
“Beyond the Plate” will showcase new work by one of America’s hottest contemporary artists. Strati has recently enjoyed sold-out exhibits at Duane Reed Gallery in St. Louis and FREMIN Gallery in New York and has sold work to top international art collectors in New York, London, Hong Kong, Dubai and beyond.
Strati’s art incorporates broken porcelain plates that have been embellished and adorned with creative details. The exhibition features the artist’s latest bold, kinetic mixed-media works and limited-edition prints as well as an ambitious site-specific installation that will be suspended from the ceiling of the Ships of the Sea atrium.
All of the art in “Beyond the Plate” will be available for purchase, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum.

From Palm Sunday, March 29, to Easter Sunday, April 5, visit our Prayer Garden for a personal Walk to the Cross.
Six stations will be exhibited along the walkway that display events in Jesus’ final week. The last station will be at the center cross in the garden.
Spend time with the Lord in a beautiful setting and consider his walk to the cross, death, burial, and magnificent resurrection, and what it means for you.
